The journey began in 2024, when Bayacao, in partnership with Agroglobal Monte Plata, acquired strategic land in the province. This acquisition set the stage for the creation of the AgroProcess Monte Plata Free Trade Zone Park, a hub designed to drive agro-industrial innovation and growth.
Under a newly formed entity, Bayacao Mundial Premium, the group secured official Free Trade Zone status to start its opration in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to a multi-year investment program that will create jobs, boost economic development, and open new commercial opportunities for Dominican cocoa farmers.
Operating under the renowned Bayacao brand, Bayacao Mundial Premium has chosen a dual approach—combining high-throughput industrial processing with the preservation of traditional methods. This strategy ensures the company can meet growing international demand while maintaining the artisanal quality for which Dominican cocoa is celebrated.
From 2024 and into 2025, Bayacao Mundial Premium transformed its acquisition into a modern, state-of-the-art cocoa processing facility, equipped to serve both local and global markets. The company’s vision extends far beyond infrastructure: it aims to generate high-quality, skilled employment for the people of Monte Plata Province, while working closely with local communities to develop new and sustainable income streams.
