Bayacao

Bayacao has initiated the acquisition process for a brand-new cocoa processing facility located in Monte Plata. While the facility was still incomplete as of the date of the signature at the end of June, progress in equipping the facility with all the necessary tools and equipment to produce premium-quality cocoa will commence on July 1, 2023.

The processing facility, boasting a capacity of 1,600 metric tons of dry cocoa beans per year, is strategically situated in the heart of the cocoa-producing region of Monte Plata Province, nestled between Yamassa and the town of Monte Plata. This facility represents a pivotal asset for Bayacao as we endeavor to establish sustainable relationships with cocoa producers in the Dominican Republic, especially those in the Monte Plata Province.

The factory is equipped with the essential infrastructure required for the transformation of fresh cocoa beans into both fermented and unfermented dry cocoa beans. It includes a cleaning/bagging process and a large storage facility enabling Bayacao to have dry cocoa products available for sale by the end of 2023.

A new team led by Alessio Caldei has been recruited to run the facility and will endeavor to produce the finest dry cocoa beans in the Dominican Republic.
