He also explained that the project will be the first in the country to have a completely mechanized process and that it will also be the first in our country to have carbon certification.
According to the activity, the Bayacao agroforestry project will have a high-tech factory with a daily processing capacity of 50 metric tons of cocoa slime.
The project will have a positive ecological impact since, in addition to the cocoa trees, 180,000 shade trees will be planted and will increase biodiversity in the area, improve soil conditions and help prevent soil erosion.
The Bayacao agroforestry project began its program to plant more than 1.2 million cocoa trees in this province, which will produce more than 1,600 tons of cocoa annually.
According to the company’s director, Fédéric Pédron, the project contemplates an investment of more than RD$700 million and will generate more than 200 direct jobs in the area.
